About Pine and Market
Pine and Market is a reference site covering public parks, trail difficulty levels, and outdoor access points for visitors in Canada. The aim is narrow and practical: gather the details a person checks before a walk — how hard a route is, where it can be entered, and how the season changes it — and present them in plain language.
How the notes are written
Each guide is compiled from publicly available park information, including the materials published by the bodies that manage the land. Where exact figures vary by season or are revised regularly, the notes use neutral descriptions rather than fixed numbers, and direct readers to the managing authority for current detail.
What this site is not
The notes are background reading, not official trip planning. Trail conditions, access rules, permits, and closures change, and the managing park authority is always the deciding source. Nothing here replaces checking current conditions before you travel.
Coverage
- National parks, such as Banff in Alberta.
- Long-distance footpaths, such as the Bruce Trail in Ontario.
- Provincial parks, such as Algonquin in Ontario.
